We all love a behind the scenes tour, right? Here's a little peek into my metal smithing studio where I make all the jewelry and allll the messes. Let's start off with the tidiest corner of my studio; this is wear I do all the heavy hammering as well as shaping and forming. See that silver stepped mandrel in the vise on the bottom right? Peanut Wood - Three Fossils in One!

A 12" slab of uncut peanut wood. Photo from geology.com The bold patterns and high contrast of peanut wood is what first caught my eye, but I didn't really look into the origin of this beautiful material until recently - I just figured it was peanut wood that had been petrified. Nope!  Of course, any type of petrified wood is always cool but there is so much more to peanut wood! The Pinaceae Bracelet - currently available in my shop. Peanut wood likely began as a conifer tree in Western Australia in the Cretaceous period, about 145-66 million years ago....
